Lesson Plan

A Year 9 Economics and Business Industry Case Study

This lesson plan explores several descriptors from the Year 9 Economics and Business in Australian Curriculum Version 9.

Students will learn to understand how Australian businesses compete in the global market, then to use what they know to investigate a business operating in a chosen industry and to draw conclusions about the role of ethics, sustainability and cost in global supply chains.

Students are guided through an exploration of a chosen industry, with suggested businesses to explore, guiding questions and evaluation prompts. Across 2-3 lessons students will work in groups, research, reflect and predict.

Better yet, the lesson is self guided – perfect to set for your students when you’re called out of the classroom, or during time of classroom interruption (we see you, school photos!) to allow students to continue working through the project at their own pace.
